Petey Mack

Marion K, often better known as Freeda, is a travel agent and 9 year ukulele enthusiast based in Kalamazoo, Michigan.  With a background in percussion and barbershop singing, the ukulele is her first stringed instrument.   She was instantly transfixed by the low barrier to entry paired with the ability to perform independently or collaboratively.  She founded the KalamazUkes ukulele club, and has been featured on local news and radio playing ukulele.  When not occupied organizing ukulele trips, you can find her helping out at midwest ukulele events or teaching ukulele at a local high-behavior special education school.   Marion is also a trained facilitator in the Remo HealthRhythms therapeutic group drumming technique.  Her passion is not in high level performance, but on the magic that happens when someone makes the transition from a consumer to a creator of music

Playing many instruments since childhood, Petey Mack found the ukulele 12 years ago and his life was forever changed. He found that the ukulele brings together his two passions, the love of people and the love of music. For the past 8 years he has brought his joy of teaching and arranging music to people on his home turf in Tennessee and all over the world. Pete utilizes group singalongs and jam sessions to encourage and motivate players to have the self confidence to be themselves and to play in public.  His free online music arrangements are an invaluable resource for clubs all ocer the world.

Chris DeGirolamo, better known simply as “DeG” (dēg), is a multi-instrumentalist musician and performer from Atlanta, Georgia.  Previously stationed in Hawaii, he did not pick up the ukulele until many years later, when a friend suggested that a guitar was too big to take on Boy Scout campouts, and that DeG should try the ukulele.  That suggestion turned into a life changing event.  DeG founded the Southeast Ukers group in 2009 as a way to meet others who shared his passion.  The club now boasts over 400 members.  DeG has written several songs and has appeared on the Ukulele Underground United CD, as well as the Ukulele Players United to Decrease World Suck CD (Both charity fundraising efforts) His musical interests range from Hawaiian language songs, to instrumentals, to popular music.  He has performed numerous times at the Nezian Polynesian Festival in Atlanta, GA.  Aside from ukulele and guitar, he is also the percussionist for the ukulele reggae trio Drop Ready.

  • Yes.  You need a passport.  Application form HERE.

  • I *can* make your airline reservations, but it isn't any cheaper than doing it yourself.

  • If you need me, email is best so I can keep track of where I'm at with any individual reservation.  You may also receive communications from Sue or Cindy in my office.

  • When we get 6 months prior to sailing, I'll send out an email about any extras you would like to add.  This is the time we will handle gratuities, excursions, parking, transfers to and from the port, and pre/post cruise hotel nights.

  • Finally, you will need to accomplish some tasks just prior to sailing.  You will be sent instructions via email on how to check in online (required by homeland security/border control) and print your luggage tags.

  • One more detail:  the program enrollment fee is non refundable.  The cruise portion will be handled by the cruise line itself, in accordance with their policies.

A Final Word

It's not an overstatement to say that ukulele changed my life.  I look forward to meeting you (or seeing you again) and making this an event  that is a great fundraiser for Tampa Bay Ukulele Society, a "gift of music" miracle for Mexican children, and a new kind of getaway experience with your new and old ukulele friends.
